Israeli company builds new kamikaze drone for US
The state-owned company Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has received a contract from the US Department of Defense to develop and supply a new Point Blank kamikaze drone, which is a hybrid optically guided missile. This is reported by United Press International.
According to the publication, the drone can be carried in a soldier's backpack and launched with one hand.
It is noted that Point Blank can attack various targets in mode real-time with high accuracy and high lethality, without the need for support".
IAI Executive Vice President Guy Bahr said the drone will give ground tactical teams new capabilities to carry out precision offensive operations.< /p>
Point Blank weighs 6.8 kg and is about a meter long. It can fly at an altitude of over 450 meters with a maximum speed of 286 km/h.
According to IAI, the drone can hover over the target and perform real-time surveillance functions.
Earlier, BAGNET reported that the US Navy tested two — Saildrone robotic boats. The drones successfully contacted the destroyer USS Delbert D. Black and transmitted data.
In September, similar drones were captured in the Red Sea by the Iranian Navy. They belonged to the Fifth Fleet of the US Navy.
