The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Thursday, November 7, that it had signed an agreement to purchase 25 next-generation F-15 fighter jets manufactured by Boeing.

The $5.2 billion agreement is part of a broader U.S. aid package approved by the administration and Congress earlier this year, the report said, and includes an option for an additional 25 aircraft, Reuters reported.

The aircraft will be equipped with weapons systems integrated with Israeli weapons and will have increased range and payload.

“These advantages will enable the Israeli Air Force to maintain strategic superiority in responding to current and future challenges in the Middle East,” the ministry said in a statement.

Delivery of the F-15s will begin in 2031, with four to six aircraft being delivered annually, the statement said.

“This F-15 squadron, along with a third F-35 squadron purchased earlier this year, represents a historic boost to our air power and strategic range – capabilities that have proven decisive in the current war,” Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir said.
