Israeli Ambassador to Kyiv (Ukraine) Mikhail Brodsky gave an interview to Glavkom, during which he told how many Ukrainians Israel accepted after the start of a full-scale war.
< br /> According to him, since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Israel has accepted more than 20,000 Ukrainian refugees and provided them with state assistance.
“It's a big stress for a small country to accept a huge number of people in such a situation. We are a small country, we do not have unlimited resources. Therefore, we said that those who come from Ukraine and do not have the right to repatriate can come if they have relatives or friends in Israel who can help them. And so it was. Indeed, since the beginning of the war, more than 20,000 Ukrainians without Jewish roots have come to Israel and acquired refugee status, – Brodsky said.
The diplomat noted that most of the arrivals have friends or relatives in Israel. They were allowed to legally stay in the country and receive “a little help” assistance.
