Israel asks US to send another THAAD air defense battery

Israel has asked the US to send a second THAAD battery. This request was made on the eve of planning a retaliatory attack on Iran.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Times of Israel.

Last Sunday, the Pentagon confirmed that Washington would send to Israel one advanced air defense battery with US soldiers to man it.

However, it was reported today that Israel has asked the US to send another THAAD battery to defend the country in the event of an Iranian response to an expected Israeli attack in answer.

THAAD is considered a complementary system to the Patriot system, but can protect a larger area, capable of engaging targets at a distance of 150-200 kilometers (93-124 miles).

Each battery consists of six launchers mounted on a truck, 48 interceptors, radio and radar equipment, which requires 95 soldiers to operate.
