Israel said on Thursday, Sept. 26, that it has secured an $8.7 billion aid package from the United States. The package includes $3.5 billion that has already been received and allocated for critical military purchases. Another $5.2 billion is earmarked for air defense systems, including the Iron Dome missile defense system. and David's Sling, as well as advanced laser systems, Reuters reports.
The announcement of the aid came after talks at the Pentagon between Israeli Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir and U.S. defense officials, including Acting Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Amanda Dori.

The ministry said the deal underscores the “strong and enduring strategic partnership between Israel and the United States, as well as Israel's unwavering commitment to security,” especially in addressing regional security threats posed by Iran and Iranian-backed militias.
