Iran bans pagers and walkie-talkies on flights after Hezbollah bombings

The use of walkie-talkies and pagers in airplanes has been banned in Iran. A spokesman for the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran told ISNA on October 12.

He said that from now on in Iran, passengers are prohibited from entering airplanes with any electronic means of communication except mobile phones. They are also prohibited to be transported in luggage.

This decision was announced after a mass explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah militants in Lebanon in September. The attack was attributed to Israel, but it denied its involvement in the incidents.
