US Congressman John Moulenar has asked the Pentagon to put Chinese display manufacturers BOE Technology Group and Tianma Microelectronics on the sanctions list for reasons of national security. This could seriously affect Apple's plans to reduce production costs for the iPhone and iPad.

According to Moulenar, Chinese companies are rapidly increasing their presence in the global display market thanks to state support and dumping prices. Their share in the supply of OLED panels increased from 1% in 2014 to 52%, and in the LCD market they already occupy 72%.
