IOHK announced the exact date for the activation of Vasil in the Cardano network

The developers from IOHK announced the date for the activation of the Vasil hard fork in the main Cardano network – September 22.

Vasil is Cardano's biggest update, which should lead to an increase in network bandwidth, reduce transaction costs and improve security.

The hard fork will also add new features to the Plutus system for application developers.

The team expects a smooth technical transition with no disruptions or interruptions to block production. Users do not need to take any action.

The update is named after the deceased Cardano Ambassador, who planted over 10,000 trees in his lifetime.

To activate the update, you also need 25 cryptocurrency exchanges, which provide about 80% of ADA liquidity, updated their systems. It is also required that 75% of the blocks be created by nodes with updated software.

Initially, Vasil was planned to be activated at the end of June 2022, but the date was postponed to the next month. In July, the developers updated the testnet and postponed the hard fork again.
