Intel Core Ultra 200S launch failure: Germany still hasn't sold a single processor

After a week of sales, Intel Core Ultra 200S Arrow Lake processors are showing disappointing results in the market, reports Tom’ s Hardware. Mindfactory, Germany's largest online store for PC components, has never sold a single processor of this series. At the same time, Intel's share of the store's total processor sales is only 5%, while AMD controls the remaining 95%. In the U.S., the situation is similar, with a small amount of Arrow Lake sold on Newegg and Amazon.

AMD demand soars

While new Intel processors face weak demand, AMD is strengthening its position. On the Mindfactory platform, the most popular processors are Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 5700X3D, with sales of 190 and 80 units, respectively. Motherboard sales also increased for AMD, rising from 88.65% to 93.75%, underscoring AMD's dominance in the market.

Reasons for weak interest in Intel

< p>One of the models of the new line, Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, showed reduced performance in games, which, according to experts, negatively affected consumer interest. According to Tom’s Hardware, US sales of this processor are also very low, making Arrow Lake's launch one of the least successful in recent years.

Intel's financial losses and market difficulties

Poor sales of new processors add to the challenges for Intel, which is already in crisis. In August, the company reported a loss of $1.6 billion for the quarter, and was also forced to cut staff and suspend construction of a plant in Magdeburg. With almost empty shelves, buyers in Germany may be more wary of new Intel products, exacerbating the crisis for the company.
