Instead of “Iphone 15 Pro” and “Iphone 15 Pro Max”, the scammer sent buyers fake smartphones

Under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, an 18-year-old resident of Ryazan was reported suspected of committing 12 episodes of fraud (Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect posted an ad on the website «OLX» for the sale of mobile phones «Iphone 15 Pro» and «Iphone 15 Pro Max». To customers who wanted to buy a phone, the suspect sent a fake phone in a branded box by mail.

Buyers did not check at the post office whether they had been sent a real phone, but only looked to see if there was anything in the box. After that, they sent money to the seller through the postal service. Already at home, the owners of the fakes realized that they had become victims of fraud.

In this way, the 18-year-old guy earned almost 340 thousand hryvnias, deceiving 12 buyers.

Currently, he has been notified of suspicion and a preventive measure in the form of house arrest has been chosen.
