The National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec)has been in charge of intensifying the operations inside the country's prisons and it is not new that there are several irregularities inside that have been revealed, such as the use of technological devices by the prisoners, the escapes with the help of officials of the prisons, the entry of food and prohibited substances. That is why on January 15, in the morning hours, the institution decided to carry out operations in several prisons in the country and the most surprising findings were those of the La Picota prison in Bogotá and the Riohacha prison in the Guajira.

In the midst of this procedure, what most impacted the authorities is that they found that internal corruption has reached uncontrollable levels. In addition to the elements that were taken from the inmates, they were surprised that there are cells that have been modified, in some cases, they have even put marble in the spaces and in specific cases, despite the overcrowding and the conflicts that this causes, there are cells for food storage and even for the creation of a kitchen, actions that are prohibited.
