A car with an 81-mm light Scorpion mortar was presented in the USA: up to eight shots within two minutes

The SCORPION LIGHT mobile mortar complex manufactured by Milanion NTGS was demonstrated at the AUSA 2024 event. This system is designed to meet the requirements of high mobility and rapid fire capabilities. It is also known as "Alakran" in other markets and is adaptable to a variety of military platforms, from light vehicles to armored personnel carriers. With a fully digital fire control system and automated functions, the SCORPION LIGHT can quickly fire and change positions, ensuring optimal effectiveness in difficult combat environments.

The SCORPION LIGHT system, an innovative infantry vehicle-mounted (ISV) artillery solution, is designed for precision fire support. The ISV accommodates up to 4 crew members and measures 2071 x 81.75 x 73.9 inches with a base weight of 2268 kg. At the core of the SCORPION LIGHT is its compact 408kg mortar system, which provides unparalleled 'shoot and move' capabilities, firing up to eight rounds within two minutes from a stationary position. This rapid fire sequence minimizes exposure time, increasing his survivability on the battlefield.

Equipped with a fully digital Fire Control System (FCS), the SCORPION LIGHT can easily calculate ballistic solutions for different munitions by determining its location and targeting coordinates. This automation allows operators to "wait for the green light" before each shot, simplifying the aiming process and reducing human error. The system can fire from a variety of surfaces, from concrete to sand, thanks to the base plate.

The FCS SCORPION LIGHT is designed to handle dynamic combat scenarios, allowing for pre-programmed targeting of up to 1,000 positions before deployment from headquarters. In addition, the ammunition for 72 rounds (81 mm) provides sustained firepower in the field. FCS also supports automatic retargeting within 3-5 seconds, improving its quick response capability. This advanced fire control not only facilitates area fire, but also enables the use of multi-charge and simultaneous strike strategies, which increases the lethality of the system when suppressing enemy positions.

Total weight 2676 kg — excluding barrel and ammunition — The SCORPION LIGHT exemplifies the evolution of mobile fire support solutions, providing the military with a flexible, accurate and effective indirect fire option.
