In the Russian Federation they strengthen monitoring of citizens on the Internet

In Russia  they are strengthening the blocking of VPN services in order to limit citizens' access to independent media.

About this  British intelligence reports.

Recently, several VPN applications were removed from the Russian App Store at the request of Roskomnadzor. Previously, in the Russian Federation, such actions were explained by the fact that the programs provide access to allegedly illegal content. British intelligence agencies believe that this is an attempt to limit the ability of Russians to gain access to independent Russian and international media, as well as to simplify the ability of special services to monitor citizens.

In addition, the FSB requires telecommunications operators to disable VoIP Internet telephony , allegedly to reduce the number of fraud cases. However, the British write that, most likely, this is a step to strengthen the control of the communication of Russians.

«Both measures correspond to the Kremlin's attempts to control domestic space and limit access to information that differs from the official agenda< /em>», – added in the message.
