In the Netherlands, the government has banned gadgets from meetings and official meetings for security reasons

In the Netherlands, the government has banned phones, tablets and laptops during meetings and official meetings for security reasons.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to NOS.

“After Prime Minister Dick Shoof took office, members of the Cabinet of Ministers are no longer allowed to take bring electronics to official meetings, such as the Council of Ministers, for security reasons,” the message says.

It is noted that before the start of the meeting or official meeting, those present must place phones, laptops, smart watches and other electronics in a special safe.

“It is not clear what the immediate cause is, but there is probably a fear that hackers will be able to eavesdrop through the equipment”, the message says.

In the previous government of the Netherlands&nbsp ;smartphones were only banned when security issues were discussed.

Dick Schoof was reportedly the head of the General Intelligence and Security Service of the Netherlands in 2018-2020. Before that, he was the country's national coordinator in the fight against terrorism.

The new government of the Netherlands, led by Dick Schooof, was sworn in on July 2.
