Billionaire Ihor Kolomoiskyi, who is suspected of fraud and was detained for 60 days, appears in the investigation materials as a citizen of Israel and Cyprus. Serhii Leshchenko, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, reported on this and published a fragment of the document.
"In the investigation materials, Kolomoisky appears as a citizen of Israel and Cyprus. This destroys the popular false narrative that Kolomoisky was not deprived of Ukrainian citizenship and will not be extradited to the USA.
The first refutation: Kolomoiskyi is mentioned precisely as a person deprived of Ukrainian citizenship.
The second refutation: no requests for Kolomoiskyi's extradition to the United States have been received by Ukraine. If received, this request will be executed in accordance with the Treaty between Ukraine and the United States of America on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. There are no restrictions in the form of Kolomoisky's citizenship for this,” Leshchenko wrote.
< p>Edition “Strana.ua” draws attention to the fact that in the video of the court session regarding the selection of a preventive measure for Kolomoiskyi, the judge called the entrepreneur a citizen of Ukraine.
BAGNET reminds that on September 2, the SBU served Ihor Kolomoiskyi with suspicion of fraud (Article 190 of the Criminal Code ) and legalization (laundering) of property obtained through crime (Article 209 of the Criminal Code).
According to the investigation, from 2013 to 2020, the businessman legalized more than half a billion hryvnias “by taking them abroad, using the infrastructure controlled banking institutions”.
The same evening, the Shevchenkiv District Court of Kyiv sent Kolomoisky to custody for two months. The court gave an opportunity to deposit bail for the businessman in the amount of UAH 510 million. Kolomoisky's representatives decided not to post bail.
