In the Carpathian region, a Viber chat administrator was convicted for writing about places where summonses were served

A resident of the village of Sheshory was convicted in Ivano-Frankivsk region, who in 2018 created a Viber chat called “Police”.

This is stated in the verdict of the Kosiv District Court.

During 2022-2024, information was posted there about where in the Kosiv District, CCC employees distribute summons.

“The accused set up a group on Viber in such a way that users would send information in the form of text, photo, audio and video messages indicating the place where the military personnel of the CCC and the SP are conducting mobilization activities”, — the case materials state.

Only in the period from December 17, 2022 to September 6, 2024, 11 such messages about the work of the military CCC and the SP in the Kosiv district were posted in the group.

In court, the accused entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor. The man was convicted under Part 1 of Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations). He was sentenced to five years in prison.

However, the court released him from the main punishment and set a probationary period of one and a half years.

The resident of Sheshory was ordered not to travel abroad, to report any change in his place of residence, work or study, and to register periodically.
