Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, some churches in the city of Chernihiv have become able to conduct a child's baptism remotely, reports the resource Сheline.

According to the rector of the Cathedral of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine Roman (Kinyk), in some cases he had to conduct the sacrament of baptism via video link. This is due to the fact, the priest of the OCU explained, that one of the relatives or godparents was at the front at that time.

«There are times when the parents want to take the godchild, but the godchild is now at the front, fighting for Ukraine. There were moments when they simply turned on the phone when the godchild went on a call, and here, on the spot, was the godchild's wife, who held the phone, and he was also present at the baptism, said the rector of the Catherine Church.

Father Roman assures that this method of the child can be considered full-fledged, because all the necessary religious canons are observed. Since a person, even online, directly spiritually participated in the sacrament. Later, when the godfather returns, he will be able to take the baby in his arms and share his love and warmth with her.
