In Pakistan, a father shot his own daughter because of the TikTok app

A man was detained in Pakistan who shot his 15-year-old daughter dead over her TikTok video. The incident occurred on January 28, 2025 in Quetta.

This was reported by CNN with reference to local police.

Initially, the father, Anwar ul-Haq, said that his daughter was killed by unknown gunmen, but later confessed to the crime. The man was charged with the girl's murder, and her uncle was also detained.

During the investigation, it became known that the family had recently returned from the United States to Pakistan, where they lived in a region with conservative social norms.

It turned out that the family did not approve of the girl's clothing choices, lifestyle and social activities, including her content on social media. The father explained that he considered the videos unacceptable, and they continued to be published even after moving to Pakistan.
