Maxim Leksutov, Sergey Sobyanin's deputy for transport, spoke about the upcoming innovations. According to him, in order to ensure greater safety for road users in Moscow, cameras will record the behavior of drivers on the road, and, identifying dangerous ones, an automatic warning service will inform the police about them. Now the coverage of the intelligent transport system has become very wide, and therefore the time has come to expand its functionality. She must learn to react as quickly as possible not only to accidents, calling for help, and congestion, adjusting traffic lights, but also to dangerous driving. The cameras will record vehicles making aggressive lane changes, constant lane changes and red light passages.
The official stressed that the automation will immediately report such drivers to the road service, and its employees will be able to react faster to actions that can provoke an accident. There is no information yet when the new functionality will be introduced.
