In Italy, electronic warfare technology was created, which can deceive the radar

The Italian company Leonardo presented its latest electronic warfare system (EW) called BriteStorm. The compact device, which can be installed on aircraft, drones and missiles, is designed to suppress enemy radars or create false targets to confuse the enemy.

The system can be integrated into  drones of the type "faithful partner" ; (loyal wingman), creating the illusion of an entire formation of fighters to protect real combat vehicles. In addition, BriteStorm can be used as a false target by releasing dipole reflectors or infrared traps from the firing system.

Like the previous version of the system, BriteStorm works on the basis of jamming technology, absorbing the incoming signal radar, imitating its frequency and sending a false return signal. In this way, the enemy sees imaginary targets.

BriteStorm was presented at the Association of the US Army (AUSA) annual conference in Washington, DC. The new system was developed by the British division of Leonardo and weighs only 2.5 kilograms. The kit includes an antenna, transmitters and receivers, and also a miniature technique generator from Leonardo (Miniature Technique Generator).
