In Germany, they continue to actively work on the development of laser weapons. For this, Rheinmetall and MBDA Deutschland signed a joint cooperation agreement, according to Rheinmetall's website.

The main goal of this cooperation is to equip the navy with laser weapons within the next 5-6 years.

The companies want to create a weapon that will protect the military against drones, including ships, both from the air and from the surface.

Both companies are confident that their achievements in the development of laser weapons will help to jointly create a quality weapon.  

Companies have already worked on the development of a laser before, in particular, in 2022 they installed it on a ship of the German Navy. Then the laser weapon showed high results in more than 100 shots.
