In China, 10,000 drones were launched from one laptop: why did they do it (video)

10,197 drones were simultaneously piloted in Shenzhen Bay during the light show. The light show showed the audience, in particular, the sights of the bay.

Shenzhen Bay in China recently held a light show using more than 10,000 drones to celebrate National Day. It reports Interesting Engineering.

This event broke two world records — for the largest number of drones simultaneously launched from a single computer and the largest image created by drones. The show culminated in the “Sky City” scene, where thousands of drones moved in precise coordination, creating an unusual aerial spectacle.

The exhibition also incorporated elements of Shenzhen's cultural heritage, combining innovation with tradition. The city's iconic landmarks were showcased, along with scenes inspired by the martial art of Wing Chun, representing the city's rich history and dynamic future.

This performance was just the beginning of the week-long celebration. Over the next seven days, more than 10,000 drones will light up the sky in five districts of the city.

The Daybreak Festival became a time of technological wonder, and the event became one of the largest drone shows ever held in China. Each night, the drone formations will change, drawing attention to a different visual experience.

After the drone display, the sky was further lit up by what organizers called “cyberfireworks.” It was not traditional pyrotechnics, but an innovative fusion of light and technology. Cyberfireworks created a vivid image of Shenzhen and entered the Guinness Book of Records.
