In case of threat, Latvia is ready to seize ships of Russia's "shadow fleet", - Prime Minister Silinja

Latvia may seize ships of the Russian “shadow fleet” in case of a corresponding threat.

Prime Minister Evika Silinja stated this in an interview with BBC World.

Silinja emphasized that Latvia is ready to defend its borders and critical infrastructure both on land and at sea. She also added that the country is ready to effectively respond to the threats of hybrid warfare.

“If necessary, we will use the right to seize ships of the “shadow fleet”, – said the head of the Latvian government.

Earlier it was reported that the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbock, called for strengthening sanctions against the Russian “shadow fleet” against the background of damage to the cable in the Baltic Sea.
