In Alaska, a Russian fighter jet flew just a meter away from an American F-16 (VIDEO)

American military officials from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) have published a new video “stunning” meetings between a Russian fighter jet flying near Alaska and a US Air Force F-16 sent to intercept it.

In a video published by the Associated Press agency, a Russian jet flies past an American – only a few feet from him, obliquely crossing his course.

The Russian fighter almost collided with the American, in addition, the Su-35 created a zone of turbulence that affected the flight stability of the American fighter.

This incident drew condemnation from a senior NORAD officer and one of Alaska's US senators.

"The behavior of one Russian Su-35 was dangerous, unprofessional and threatened everyone – not at all what you see in a professional air force», – said General Gregory Guillot, commander of NORAD and the US Northern Command.

US NORAD aircraft performed a "safe and disciplined" the mode of interception of the Russian plane, he added.

A message sent to the Russian Embassy on Monday with a request for comment did not receive a response.

U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan, a Republican member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, said that the close flyby of the Russian plane is another reason to build up America's military presence in Alaska and the Arctic.

«Reckless and unprofessional maneuvers of Russian fighter pilots – just a few feet from our fighter jets in Alaska – put the lives of our brave aviators at risk and underscored the escalation of aggression we are witnessing from dictators like Vladimir Putin», – Dan Sullivan said in a statement.

The Russian jet came just weeks after eight Russian warplanes and four Navy ships, including two submarines, approached Alaska during joint Chinese-Russian exercises.

This is not the first time that Russia has invaded Alaska's air defense identification zone outside US sovereign airspace.

In July, Russian and Chinese bombers flew together for the first time in international airspace near Alaska, a sign of cooperation , which, according to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, caused concern.
