Next year, the US Space Force will receive a new ground system for jamming the signal of Russian and Chinese satellites.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by Bloomberg.

It is noted that the system from the company L3Harris Technologies Inc., known as Meadowlands, is a lighter, mobile version of the "Counter Communications System", which was announced as working in 2020.

The new model may receive updated software and be able to jam more frequencies.

It was originally scheduled to be delivered to the US Space Force in October 2022, but from that date was abandoned due to undisclosed technical issues.

The Space Force told the agency that, as of September, the system had "completed all system-level verification testing" and is "on track for delivery next year".

The agency also added that between January and March, the Space Force will assess when the first five of the planned 32 weapons can be declared operational.

They will be handed over to the Space Force's electronic warfare unit Delta 3.

Systems like the Meadowlands are said to be designed to provide a temporary deterrent during a conflict to counter the growing number of Chinese and Russian space systems.

China currently operates more than 300 remote sensing satellites with various sensors, in particular, "improving the ability of the Chinese military to monitor US aircraft carriers".

Also, while Russia has some of the most capable remote sensing satellites in the world, their number is limited compared to by the USA and China.
