In the Japanese capital of Tokyo, the IT company Qnote “hired” 11 cat employees. Their duties include being cute, meowing, purring, napping by the window, and helping (or hindering) their human colleagues during work hours.
This was reported by the South China Morning Post and the Mainichi Shimbun, reports Babel.
The company introduced the first “regular” cat, Futaba, back in 2004. Since then, the office has increased by 11 more cats. One of them died in 2022, and Futaba died at the end of August this year at the age of 20 years and 3 months. A farewell party was held in her honor.
Now, in addition to 32 people, the company's Tokyo office has 10 feline “employees,” most of them full-time. Qnote has even assigned titles to each of them, such as “Chief Clerk”, “Manager”, “Auditor”.

Six working cats are the offspring of Futaba and her feline colleague. A former stray cat also “works” in the office – one of the human employees of Qnote rescued it in a traffic accident. Another one was taken from a cat cafe.
The Qnote company specializes in the development of websites and applications. The company considers love of cats to be one of the most important requirements for job candidates. At Qnote, we believe that cats have helped human workers connect, improve their emotional state, and improve their work efficiency.
