Every second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft rolls out an update for its operating systems. For this January Patch Tuesday, no less than 83 flaws have been corrected, including 10 deemed critical and one zero-day for Windows Defender antivirus.
I repeat it often, updating it is super important to protect our devices.
That of January 2021 on Windows is all the more important, because it fixes no less than 83 security flaws, including 10 considered critical.
This is not to mention that it fixes a flaw described as zero-day for its Windows Defender antivirus. A zero-day vulnerability is a vulnerability that has never been identified.
This flaw, in the code name CVE-2021-1647, was a remote code execution bug that allowed attackers to execute code on vulnerable devices by tricking a user into opening a malicious document on a system with Windows Defender installed.
Microsoft explains that although the flaw has been identified, there is no indication that it has been exploited so far.
Still, it is better not to take a chance and install the famous update to plug any holes in our computer.
