On September 1, Ukraine announced changes in the organization of traffic on the border with Poland.
As it became known, this is a pilot project aimed at minimizing the queues of vehicles, provides for a temporary change in the categories of checkpoints of the Ukrainian-Polish section of the border (4 checkpoints – up to 7.5 tons and 4 checkpoints – more 7.5 tons), writes Avtodream.
Customs officials say that the growth of traffic due to the existing checkpoints in the direction of the western border during the war increased so much that it significantly exceeded their capacity. Therefore, traffic jams arise in front of them, especially from trucks – at some checkpoints they reach tens of kilometers.
The experiment, which will last throughout September 2022, should reduce these queues. It consists in the fact that the checkpoints will be divided into “cars”, “cargo” and “for large trucks”.
According to the results of the pilot project, a decision will be made on the need to introduce such a procedure for organizing the movement of cars in Ukrainian Polish border on a permanent basis.
