This is what Sportsnet reporter Elliotte Friedman reported on Thursday. However, he added that the Leafs do not want to part with the 26-year-old as they see him as a key part of the squad.
In his first season in Toronto, Mikheyev totaled eight goals and 15 assists, for 23 points in 39 games. Then, in his sophomore year last year, he had 17 points in 54 games, generally being used on the less offensive lines of the roster.
The Russian has never produced in two Leafs playoff appearances.
Prior to coming to North America, Mikheyev played four seasons with the Omsk Avangard in the Continental Hockey League (KHL).
