Hundreds of people gathered on Graceland's front lawn on a cold, gray Sunday morning in Memphis to mourn the death and remember the life of Lisa Marie Presley, who passed away on January 12 due to cardiac arrest.
Mourners held flowers as they waited for the service to begin under the tall trees on the lawn of Graceland, the house where Lisa Marie lived as a child with her father, Elvis Presley.
The mansion, Owned by Lisa Marie Presley, it has become a museum and tourist attraction that hundreds of thousands of fans visit each year to celebrate the life and music of Elvis, who died in 1977.
The property, in south Memphis, was a place of sadness and dark memories on Sunday. Presley, a 54-year-old singer-songwriter dedicated to her father's legacy, died Jan. 12 at age 54. She had been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital earlier that day after going into cardiac arrest at home.

The service began with singing “Amazing Grace” by Jason Clark & The Tennessee Mass Choir.
“We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for the love, compassion and support you have shown our family during this difficult time,” read a message from the Presley family written in the service program. “We will always be grateful to them.”

Lisa Marie Presley's mother, actress Priscilla Presley; her daughter, actress Riley Keough; Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York; and singers Billy Corgan, Alanis Morissette and Axl Rose, were part of the public funeral that was broadcast live on YouTube.
“Our hearts are broken, Lisa, and we all love you,” said her mother, Priscilla Presley, at the service on Graceland's front lawn. “Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero to many people around the world.”

Ferguson remembered her friend with a quote from her former mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II.
Prince Andrew's ex-wife, 63, spoke at Presley's memorial service at Graceland on Sunday in an effort to “celebrate the extraordinary Lisa Marie”.
“Sissy, this is for you with love,” Ferguson said. “My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing that can be said can begin to take away the anguish and pain of these moments, because pain is the price we pay for love. And she was right.”
“We look at Priscilla as the mother of Lisa Marie, and we look at Lisa Marie and we're like, 'You lost a child,'” Ferguson said of Presley's son, Benjamin. “Mothers who lose children, there are no words for that. So for Riley, for Harper and Finley and the whole family, we march forward to support them. We are all with you. If you'll just hold out your hand, we'll be there. I will definitely be there,” the Duchess of York said.

During a memorial service, the actress's husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, revealed that the couple is the father of a daughter while sharing a tribute on behalf of his wife, who was seated in the front row.
“I hope I can love my daughter like you loved me, like you loved my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor, my manners, my temper. , my savagery, my tenacity. I am a product of your heart, my sisters are a product of your heart, my brother is a product of your heart,” Smith-Petersen said of his mother-in-law, reading his wife's words.

The only child of one of the biggest stars in American music, she was 9 years old when Elvis Presley died of heart failure at age 42 in 1977 at Graceland. The mansion is now a popular tourist attraction.

Following the funeral, mourners will procession through Graceland's Meditation Garden, where she will be laid to rest next to the grave of her son, Benjamin Keough, who committed suicide in 2020 at 27 years old and with her famous father.
Graceland attracts more than half a million visitors a year, it is the second most visited house in the United States, only after the White House . It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2006.
Since his death, Presley has been inducted into four music halls of fame: the Rock Hall of Fame (1986), the Rock Hall of Fame (1986), the the Country Hall of Fame (1998), the Gospel Hall of Fame (2001) and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame (2007).
