How to unlock your smartphone if you forgot your password

Even if you forgot your password, pattern, or PIN, there are ways to regain access.

In this case, you should immediately consider the safe and official methods offered by smartphone manufacturers, including universal options such as a full reset.

You can regain access using your Google account, which is suitable for older devices. Enter the wrong password several times, after which the “Forgot password?” option will appear. Enter the username and password of the Google account linked to the device. If you have forgotten your account details, you can recover them on the Google website.

The Smart Lock feature is available for Android 8.0 and above. If Voice Match was previously set up, try unlocking the screen with the voice command “Ok, Google”.

For Samsung Galaxy owners, the SmartThings Find service allows you to remotely reset the lock settings. Connect to the Internet, log in to your Samsung account, select the device and use the unlock option.

Google's service also allows you to erase data from your smartphone and restore it to its factory state. Suitable for all devices except Huawei.

Hard Reset is performed via a combination of buttons on the smartphone and is suitable for all models, including Huawei. This method deletes all data on the device, so you will need to restore it from a backup.

For iPhone, there is a restore function via iCloud. Go to the “Find iPhone” service, select the device and perform data deletion. Alternative method – connect to iTunes on a computer to restore.
