How to stay connected during power outages: tips from the Ministry of Digital Affairs

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine shared important tips on how to stay connected during power outages.

You can always find the nearest place to charge your phone, connect to the internet, or call your family.

Connect to internet providers that use xPON technology

This will help you have internet for up to 72 hours during blackouts. If the provider has connected xPON, you need to buy a power bank and connect it to the router and the ONU subscriber terminal.

Use national roaming

  1. Disable automatic network selection:

  • on Android: Go to «Settings» – «Mobile network» – «Operator»;

  • on iOS: Go to «Options» – «Cellular data» – «Select a network».

  1. Find and select an available network.

  2. If the connection fails, try again or select a different network.

  3. Check the possibility of outgoing call, SMS.

These tips will help you stay in touch even in the most difficult conditions.
