How to restore access to your Telegram account if it has been hacked

Telegram remains one of the most popular messengers among Ukrainians, providing a convenient way to communicate, access news, and connect with loved ones.

It is important to know what to do if you suspect that your account has been hacked.

The main sign of hacking is the inability to log in to the account. The first thing to do is check your email and SMS for access codes or messages. Also, pay attention to whether your friends have written about strange activity on your behalf.

If you see these signs, you need to act quickly. If you still have access to the application, start by ending all sessions using the «Settings» — «Devices» menu.

Then enable two-factor authentication by setting a strong password and update your recovery email address. It is important to regularly check account activity to prevent repeated unauthorized login attempts.

In case of complete blocking of access, try logging in from another device.

If login is not possible, with multiple authorization attempts, Telegram may offer to send a code to the linked email address, which will help restore control.

It is important to promptly enable two-factor authentication so that attackers can no longer gain access.

If account recovery is impossible or it is no longer needed, you should consider completely deleting Telegram. This will ensure the protection of your data and prevent its further use by attackers.
