How to connect to the Internet when there is no light: the engineer named 5 ways (video)

According to engineer Ihor Karnauch, three out of five ways to connect to the Internet without light do not require knowledge in the field of electrical engineering.

In Ukraine, due to damage to the energy infrastructure, power outages are possible, which will leave some citizens without the Internet. About how to connect to the Internet without electricity, IT engineer Ihor Karnauch told in an interview with “Suspilno”.

Engineer Ihor Karnauch: 5 ways to connect to the Internet without light

According to the engineer, the most budget way — is to buy a USB/wi-fi module. It can be connected to a stationary computer, thanks to which Wi-Fi will appear on the PC. To do this, you should configure the access point in advance in the phone. The USB module will catch the Internet coming from the phone using the access point. Such a device costs from 200 to 1000 hryvnias.

The second option is a low-voltage power supply with several outputs for connecting a Wi-Fi router. Its cost is from 2,000 to 3,000 hryvnias. This device can provide Internet access only in homes that use GPON technology – a special wire through which the Internet is transmitted by light. Such networks are usually installed in private homes.

The third method is the most expensive. It involves the use of an uninterruptible power supply capable of powering a personal computer, Wi-Fi router, and media converter. Prices for such equipment start from 2,000-3,000 hryvnias.

As for the fourth and fifth methods, according to Igor Karnaukh, they require knowledge in the field of electrical engineering.

“You can buy converters – step-up or step-down – they are capable of outputting any voltage that we set. This will allow you to make the voltage that our Internet devices are powered by from a home battery. These devices will cost you about a thousand hryvnias, and the battery will also cost a larger amount. The fifth method is an inverter with a voltage of 220 volts. The device can be powered from a car or a battery,” the engineer said.
