Lots from the filming of “Game of Thrones”/AP
The auction house Heritage Auction together with the HBO channel held a large-scale sale of costumes, weapons and other props from the filming of the TV series “Game of Thrones”.
In total, more than 900 lots were presented – they collected $21.1 million. The Associated Press writes about it.
About 4,500 participants took part in the auction. The most expensive lot was a replica of the Iron Throne from the series. It was traded for six minutes and eventually sold for $1.49 million.
On the screens, the throne was forged by the dragon's breath, which melted the swords of thousands of defeated rivals, and became a symbol of the power struggle throughout the series. For the auction, a copy of the throne was made of plastic, then painted with metallic paint and decorated with jewels. In addition to the coveted Iron Throne, more than 30 other lots sold for six-figure sums.
