The current Speaker of the lower house of the US Congress, Republican Mike Johnson, was re-elected to the House of Representatives. He received overwhelming support from voters in the 4th congressional district of Louisiana.

This was reported by The Hill and the New York Times.

Johnson received 86% and beat Republican Joshua Morott, who ran with him in the district and received 14% of voter support.

Journalists note that Morott, in particular, proposed cutting the US Department of Education and repealing ObamaCare, and also stated that he is against “any foreign aid”, since, they say, it is necessary to give priority to domestic affairs.

Johnson has already won his fifth term in the House of Representatives.

After confirming his victory in his electoral district, he told reporters in Louisiana that he plans to fly to the residence that same night Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

According to the speaker, he wants to be with the former president at his party on election night.
