HMD and Xplora to release smartphones safe for teenagers

HMD and Xplora to launch teen-safe smartphones

HMD has teamed up with Xplora, a leading provider of children's smartwatches, to create smartphones that promote responsible use among young people.

HMD, known for its flip phones and initiatives such as Detox Mode, is committed to meeting parents' demand for technology solutions tailored to the needs of children. The partnership with Xplora aims to ensure a safe and balanced immersion of children in the digital world.

HMD's “Better Phone Project”, launched earlier this year, underscores the company's commitment to this goal. A global survey of 10,000 parents found that more than half regretted giving their children a smartphone too early, citing the negative impact on family time, sleep, physical activity and social interaction.

To offer healthier technological alternatives for children and adolescents, HMD is developing a range of new solutions, including a concept phone specifically designed to meet their unique needs. This collaboration will allow Xplora to expand its impact and reach.

Together, Xplora and HMD will create tools that help parents manage screen time, monitor social media interactions and guide children towards a healthy and confident digital experience.

Xplora plans to unveil new products and services at Mobile World Congress in March 2025.
