The publication Quartz published a selection of the largest chip manufacturers in the world. We have selected the main ones.

What happened

The global chip production market in 2024 reached $131.7 billion, and 70% of this amount is accounted for by Taiwanese companies.

South Korean companies occupy 11% of the market, and Chinese ones – 8%. The rest is divided among smaller players. The largest share is held by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSM), which makes chips for major technology companies including Nvidia and Apple.

Here are the six largest chipmakers in the world by revenue:

  • Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) — Taiwanese chip manufacturing company.
  • Samsung.
  • United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) — Taiwanese chip manufacturing company.
  • GlobalFoundries (GFS) — American company Semiconductor Manufacturing International.
  • Corporation (SMIC) — state-owned Chinese company.
  • Hua Hong Semiconductor  Chinese company.
