Hemp growing is reviving in Ukraine after the law on medical cannabis

Growing hemp can also affect the development of related industries – food, light and pulp and paper. This became possible now because the law on the legalization of medical cannabis was passed.

Ihor Vishtak, director of the Department of Agrarian Development of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, announced this after visiting farms in the Khmilnytskyi district of the Vinnytsia region.

According to Wistak, cultivating hemp helps aerate the soil and cleans it of heavy metals like zinc, copper and lead. He also added that Ukraine has the best varieties of industrial hemp from around the world.

I was pleasantly surprised that in Vinnytsia, hemp is grown for industrial purposes, which is a traditional domestic agricultural crop that has practically fallen out of crop rotation for a long time. The cultivation of hemp for industrial purposes became possible after the adoption of the law on medical cannabis. Industrial hemp is also a variety of products with added value – food, light. pulp and paper and other branches of industry, Ihor Vishtak noted.

Cannabis is being revived in Ukraine

We remind you that the law on the legalization of medical cannabis came into effect on August 16. It regulates its circulation for medical and industrial purposes, scientific and scientific and technical activities. The Ministry of Health notes that medical cannabis is effective in the treatment of more than 50 pathological conditions: chronic pain, arthritis, rheumatism, epilepsy, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, diabetic neuropathy, various forms of sclerosis, etc.
