Helicopter crashes into radio tower in Houston, killing 4

Four people were killed when a helicopter collided with a radio tower in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred shortly after takeoff.

The Associated Press reported, citing officials, that the helicopter crashed into a tower around 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, in an area east of downtown. The crash caused a fire that engulfed dozens of square meters of grass, but no one on the ground was hurt. Nearby buildings were also unharmed, and only a few cars were damaged. Houston Mayor John Whitmyer said some residents in the area were left without power.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it was investigating the crash of the Robinson R44 helicopter, which was believed to be on a sightseeing flight.

Officials said a child was among the four people on board the helicopter, but the identities and ages of the victims have not yet been released. Police and firefighters urged local residents to call 911 if they find anything in their area that could help with the investigation.
