Three people are dead and four are in critical condition after a helicopter crashed north of Terrace, British Columbia.

The Northern Escape Heli-Skiing company confirmed this information in a press release published Monday evening.

British Columbia Emergency Health Services said they were notified of the accident around 4:15 p.m. local time and paramedics were dispatched to the scene.

The four seriously injured people were transported to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace. A code orange was declared at the hospital to ensure sufficient staff and resources were available.

According to David Jephson of Terrace Search and Rescue, seven people who were heli-skiing had to be rescued.
