A congressional delegation met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday

A high-level Congressional delegation met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday and promised to provide continued support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.

The delegation, which included Adam Smith, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, is the latest in a series of visits by senior US officials to Ukraine.

In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, also published on RFE/RL's Russian website, Smith said that Washington and its allies are ready to supply Ukraine with 25-30 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and similar MLRS systems from the UK and other NATO countries.

“We are ready to give Ukraine as many HIMARS installations as we can,” Smith emphasized, adding that the supply 50 such installations are unlikely, but 25-30 is quite realistic.

“The United States, along with allies and partners around the world, supports Ukraine with economic, military and humanitarian assistance,” it says. in the delegation's statement. “We will continue to look for ways to best support President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people as they continue their courageous standoff.”

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said Wednesday that Washington would send four more HIMARS to Ukraine, resulting in the total number of MLRS provided will reach 16.
