Intelligence officer and member of the Ukrainian delegation at the negotiations in Gomel Denis Kireev died due to lack of coordination between the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the SBU at the beginning of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, adviser to the head of the Office of the President Mikhail Podolyak said on air channel Delfi.
According to him, there were some claims against Kireev from the SBU, but they did not manage to resolve them in a dialogue format.
"This is not related to work in delegations and the negotiation process as such. He was not an agent of Russia", — he emphasized.
At first, the SBU claimed that Kireev was allegedly spying for Moscow, but the GUR assured that he was their intelligence officer and defended the country.
BAGNET recalls that on January 18, The Wall Street Journal wrote that it was Denis Kireev, who worked in the Ukrainian divisions of Citibank, Credit Lyonnais, ING, Rabobank, as well as in Oschadbank, who on February 23, 2022 warned the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense that Putin gave the order to invade Ukraine on the morning of February 24.
And already on March 5, 2022, Kireev was shot dead in the center of Kyiv, that is, a few days after he attended the first round of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Belarus .
