The Peruvian team fell (5-4) on penalties against Australia in the playoffs and was left with the desire to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. Beyond the hard result, the 'Blanquirroja' climbed a position in the FIFA ranking that was announced this Thursday, June 23, by the highest governing body in world football on its official website.

On the list, Peru now appears in the twenty-first square, with 1562.24 points. In other words, the rojiblanco team rose one position compared to the previous update, which placed the team in twenty-second position, with a score of 1562.32.

Outside of the appointment in Qatar, the Peruvian team will have to prepare for the next qualifying process, with the aim of being in the 2026 World Cup. The Copa América is also on the horizon. Of course, it remains to be defined whether the national representative will continue to be led by Ricardo Gareca.

Brazil rules the ranking

Brazil, which dethroned Belgium in the FIFA classification in March, revalidates its first world position in June, according to the new ranking published on Thursday, while France, current world champion, falls from the podium to fourth position, surpassed by Argentina.

Five months before the World Cup in Qatar (November 21 to December 18), the 'Seleçao' (1837.56 points) increases the difference with the 'Red Devils' (1821.92 points), who had dominated the world hierarchy between October 2018 and March 2022.

The other main change in the Top 10 is Mexico's three-position drop to 12th place. This allows Denmark to climb to 10th position, ahead of Germany (11th).
