The Hawks ended a seven-game winning streak for the Los Angeles Clippers with a 38-point harvest from Trae Young in a 108-99 win on Monday in Atlanta.
Young notably amassed 26 of his 65 points in the second half as the visitors led by five points after the first two engagements.
De’Andre Hunter also contributed to the victory with 22 points. Clint Capela for his part scored 13 points while recovering 19 balls under the baskets.
The Clippers were, however, deprived of three days. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were unable to attend due to COVID-19 protocol, while Patrick Beverley struggled with knee pain.
In their absence, Reggie Jackson was the most productive player with 20 points. He is the only roster from California to reach the 20 point plateau.
The Hawks host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, while the Clippers visit the Miami Heat the next day.
A first for the Rockets this season
In Houston, the Rockets continued their streak of success by beating the Washington Wizards 107-88.
This is the first time in 2020-2021 that the Texan team have won three games in a row.
In today’s matchup, John Wall led the charge with 24 points, two rebounds and five assists.
Victor Oladipo and Eric Gordon also contributed with 20 points each.
DeMarcus Cousins also had his say, with 19 points, 11 rebounds and two assists.
For their part, the Wizards suffered a sixth consecutive loss.
Against the Rockets, Bradley Beal animated the show with 33 points, five rebounds and four assists.
