Children of the 90s grew up with the Harry Potter books and films, and at the same time as the fictional character, who over the course of his years at Hogwarts, saw the threat materialized by Lord Voldemort grow. The saga then took a much darker turn, which therefore adapted more with the evolution of its audience. A false saga for children, Harry Potter includes very dark sequences that have left a lasting mark on Potterheads. Enough to make us want to rank them. Note that this ranking does not include the deaths of the characters, since we have already listed here.
#10 the two-faced quirell
The Harry Potter film saga gets darker as the installments go on. The first, as an appetizer, is largely intended for children. However, The Philosopher's Stone has some chilling sequences. The most sinister one plunges us into the end of the film, when we discover that Voldemort is hiding at the back of poor Professor Quirell's skull. A scene that has aged very badly today, the CGI has not supported the weight of the years.
#9 Night Session IN THE FORBIDDEN FOREST
Arachnophobes suffered in The Chamber of Secrets. When Harry and Ron go deep into the Forbidden Forest to follow the trail of spiders and try to learn more about Hagrid's role in opening the Chamber, they come across Aragog, the gigantic Acromantula. After a brief exchange, the two young wizards are pursued by his offspring. Aa breathtaking nighttime chase with ultra-fast spiders with enormous legs and bodies.
#8 THE DEMENTORS
Generally speaking, the arrival of the Dementors in The Prisoner of Azkaban marks a turning point in the saga. Their presence at Hogwarts surrounds the film with a dark aura and provokes a constant feeling of unease and insecurity (a shame). Their long black coats and their frightening faces are worthy of the worst horrific entities. This is magnified by the staging of Alfonso Cuarón, which perfectly highlights his disturbing ghostly silhouettes hovering over Hogwarts.
#7 Snape's childhood
The viewer is undeniably shocked to learn that in reality, Snape is not a cruel professor attached to Voldemort, but rather a spy for Dumbledore. Just as he was humiliated in his childhood by an unbearable and arrogant James Potter. It is by reading the memories of the potions professor that Harry discovers his romance with his mother Lily, and his tumultuous past.
#6 duel with DRACO MALFOY
Eminently darker than its predecessors, Harry Potter 6 puts Harry on the trail of the Half-Blood Prince (who turns out to be Snape). Littered with mysteries and revelations, the film is also marked by the death of Albus Dumbledore, as well as a finally interesting duel between Harry and Draco, which ends with a deadly Sectumsempra thrown by our hero on his rival. His body then lies on the ground surrounded by of a pool of blood, and it only takes Snape's intervention to prevent the Slytherin student from dying.
#5 ARTHUR WEASLEY'S visions
When Harry sees Arthur Weasley being tortured by the snake Nagini in his visions, fans think they are witnessing the death of the affable father. Seeing images of one of the most sympathetic characters in the universe on the verge of death can still be striking for many viewers.
#4 BATHILDA SACKTOWER'S HOUSE
Harry and Hermione's visit to Bathilda Sacktow's house in Godric's Hollow in The Deathly Hallows Part 1 isfilmed in the style of a horror movie. While the two young wizards explore the sticky and decrepit house, Harry discovers the body of the old woman, who is actually animated by Nagini. The snake then attacks Harry who manages to escape with the help of Hermione. Jumpscares guaranteed!
#3 BELLATRIX lestrange TORTURE HERMIONE
Torture sequences are never a pleasure for the retinas. So when Hermione is under the yoke of Bellatrix Lestrange in the Malfoy manor, without Harry and Ron being able to intervene, it is the entire community that suffers with her, the screams in addition.
#2 THE INFERI
It is facing these corpses reanimated by the spells of dark wizards that Harry and Dumbelore are confronted with when they try to recover one of the Horcruxes in the cavern by the lake. The scene is all the more distressing as Harry finds himself alone facing the horde, which grabs him, while the headmaster of Hogwarts is dying from the side effects of the emerald green potion.
#1 THE FINAL BATTLE OF HOGWARTS
Because many wizards die (Fred Weasley, Tonks, Remus Lupin), Hogwarts is threatened with destruction and more generally the wizarding world is about to sink into darkness, the final battle of Hogwarts at the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is one of the most tragic sequences of the saga.
For your part, do not hesitate to tell us in the comments section which sequence(s) left a mark on you.
