The Harry Potter franchise is first and foremost a literary saga that brought success and fortune to its author J.K. Rowling, an adaptation of the novels in eight films, spin-offs Fantastic Beasts, video games, derivative products but also a large community of fans and to keep the craze around the young wizard going, Warner has decided to make a reboot for television. The studio has just announced that it is preparing this huge surprise that will definitely please all those who had some fears about this project.
A Harry Potter series project that does not appeal to all fans
It is no longer a surprise, everyone knows that HBO wants to continue the Harry Potter franchise for at least another ten years. The channel will offer fans of J.K. Rowling's work a new adaptation of the British author's novels for television. The Harry Potter television series has begun its development with the opening of the casting to find the actors who will take on the main roles in the saga, namely Harry, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, played respectively in the cinema by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. But some fans are not necessarily thrilled with the idea of offering a more diverse cast.

While some Harry Potter fans are worried about the TV series project, Warner Bros. TV president Channing Dungey wanted to reassure them. At Mipcom, currently taking place in Cannes, she spoke about the series' development process, explaining:
A team of writers has been put in place and who knows what there is to do. Casting announcements have been launched in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The process is ongoing.
Then, the head of the television branch of Warner admitted that she considered herself lucky to have the opportunity to work on Harry Potter. A project that represented for her “an incredible dream“. Especially since the project in the form of a series offers something more than the cinema:
Honestly, it's an incredible dream, and as a big fan of the books, I find that there is an opportunity to explore the books perhaps a little more in depth than in a two-hour film. That's why we undertook this adventure.
This could reassure all the Harry Potter fans who were not looking favorably on this TV series project. Especially since many of them felt that the film saga unfortunately did not address all the elements of the novels. The Harry Potter TV series does not yet have a specific broadcast date but is expected on HBO for the end of 2026 or 2027.
