As one of the most prestigious schools of Magic, Hogwarts has been training the best wizards in the world for generations. They have the leisure to choose a whole bunch of professions, each more exciting than the last, provided they excel in the appropriate courses. The boarding school then offers many compulsory or optional courses to specialize and practice intriguing professions, such as Auror, Magizoologist or even Obliviator.
#8 Artist
There's more to Harry Potter than magic, even at Hogwarts. Those with an artistic streak could apply to the Wizarding Academy of Dramatic Arts(WADA), a school of witchcraft that provided education to witches and wizards seeking careers in theater or on the stage, according to wikis dedicated to the world of the bespectacled wizard. Although there is very little information about the professions that come out of the academy, the novels mention a singer named Celestina Warbeck, an artist much appreciated by Molly Weasley.
#7 WANDMAKER
It is impossible to miss the baguette maker. The craftsmanship practiced by Garrick Ollivander, one of the most renowned makers in the United Kingdom. The study of wand making is a very complex field involving a perfect knowledge and mastery of wood, but also of the properties of each type and their affiliations with different ingredients, such as unicorn hair or dragon heartstring.
#6 LEAD-TONGUAGE
The Unspeakables were introduced in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as Ministry employees working in the Department of Mysteries. As the job title suggests, they report on missions and explore all the mysterious forces that infiltrate the wizarding world. A cross between a secret agent and a detective.
#5 OUBLIATOR
From the Men in Black of magic. The Obliviators are responsible for repairing witchcraft accidents at the Ministry of Magic, and this, by casting Amnesia spells on Muggle witnesses in order to keep the magical community secret. A NEWT qualification in spells seems obvious to master such rather technical spells.
#4 MAGIZOOLOGISTS
Better known, magizoology is the study of fantastic creatures. The job that Norbert Dragonneau practices in the Fantastic Beasts trilogy and which Hogwarts Legacy players can practice briefly thanks to the management of their vivarium. His book, Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them, which decorates the Hogwarts library, is a bible for any student who is destined for a career as a magizoologist. They will nevertheless have to excel in the optional subject “Care of Magical Creatures”. The wizarding world is full of creatures to study, so much so thatThe Department for the Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures has given classifications to all animals, under five levels, the highest bringing together creatures such as dragons, werewolves, or acromantulas.
#3 DRAGONOLOGY, THE STUDY OF DRAGONS
Some magizoologists may specialize in the study of dragons. These wizards, called dragonologists, study the different breeds of dragons, usually in nature reserves. This is the profession of Charlie Weasley (mentioned in the books by his brother Ron), who studies the different breeds of dragons in Romania. InHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, dragons are at the center of the first test of the Triwizard Tournament. We learn that there are more than ten races (at least that's what the books mention) and that the job of dragonologist also consists of taming and controlling them (partially), in order to accustom them to such tests.
#2 CURSE BREAKER
Also called spellcaster, spellbreaker or evil spellcaster, the Hexbreaker must be able to destroy spells present on the premises, doors and other structures or treasures and artifacts. We learn in book 3, The Prisoner of Azkaban, that Bill Weasley worked as a curse breaker in Egypt for Gringotts Bank. Such a risky job requires at least an OWL in Arithmancy.
#1 AUROR
Certainly everyone's dream job. These elite members of the Ministry of Magic are responsible for tracking down, imprisoning, and even killing the fearsome dark wizards. The Auror profession is introduced in The Prisoner of Azkaban, then materialized in the guise of Alastor Moody and Nymphadora Tonks later in the saga. Dangerous and demanding, the status of Auror requires high qualifications and the obtaining of ASPIC (Accumulation of Particularly Intensive and Constraining Witchcraft; a skills test following the O.W.L.), with at least five mentions “Exceptional effort” in Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, and of course in Defense Against the Dark Arts. Then comes a very intense three-year training.
