Hackers hacked Rosregistr and downloaded data of millions of Russians, – media

Hackers hacked into the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography of Russia, or Rosregistry for short. It is reported that they downloaded all the data on millions of citizens of the aggressor country from there.

This is reported by 24 Channel with reference to Russian media. Representatives of Rosregistry have also officially commented on the situation.

What is known about the possible data leak from the Rosregistr

Russian propaganda media and publications wrote that unknown cybercriminals were able to gain access to the personal data of millions of Russian citizens. A fragment of the stolen database containing almost 82 million rows was also published on the network.

The information that hackers could have stolen could have included:

  • Full names and dates of birth of Russian citizens;
  • their email addresses;
  • phone numbers;
  • addresses with places of registration and residence;
  • data passports.

It is claimed that hackers gained access to more than 2 billion lines, with a total size of about 1 terabyte.

We have already managed to comment on the information about the data leak in the Rosregistry itself. They were quick to point out that they “do not confirm the data leak from the Unified State Register of Real Estate (USRE)”.

Representatives of Rosregistr also wrote that they are currently conducting additional checks on information about the leak of other data, which was previously reported in a number of media outlets.

It is interesting that along with information about the leak of Russians' data from Rosregistr, malfunctions in the work of other state websites were also reported. In particular, as Russian journalists wrote, the Roskomnadzor bloggers' register is malfunctioning. When you go to the site, a blank window opens there.
