Guterres praises Kazan summit organized by Russian regime

UN Secretary-General António Guterres commented on his visit to the Russian city of Kazan for the BRICS summit. He believes that such events are “very important.”

He stated this in a comment to propagandist Pavel Zarubin on the Kremlin channel “Russia.”

“I had to visit the Kazan Kremlin – it is like a magnificent wonder of the world. […] I believe that all summits where countries unite are very important. “Thanks to this, global problems in the world are being solved,” the Secretary General told Zarubin.

Recall that this week, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres went to the BRICS summit in Kazan, where he met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. According to AFP, against this backdrop, President Volodymyr Zelensky refused the Secretary General a visit to Ukraine.

The summit, which took place on October 22-24 in Kazan, Russia, was attended by more than 20 world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

In paragraph 36 of the final declaration of the summit, the participants noted that all states must act in accordance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. Ukraine was also mentioned in this paragraph.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated: the summit in Kazan showed that the world majority remains on Ukraine's side in its desire to guarantee the establishment of a just peace. And Moscow's attempts to impose the idea of an allegedly alternative position of the so-called Global South regarding the war “have suffered another fiasco.”
